The significant pay disparity between executives in for-profit industries and their counterparts in non-profit organizations is slowly, but steadily diminishing, particularly in base salary. Today, a non-profit organization competes not only with other non-profits but also with for-profits for top talent from the same labor pool. In fact, the skills necessary to secure funding; deliver services; and interact with business, government and community leaders, while maintaining budgetary constraints and striving for a surplus, are comparable in both the non-profit and for-profit sectors.
